Birgit Schoeberl

Global Head of Modeling and Simulation and Data Science, Novartis BioMedical Research

Birgit Schoeberl is the Global Head of Modeling and Simulation and Data Science at Novartis BioMedical Research in Cambridge, USA. Her team focuses on leveraging Machine Learning/Artificial Intelligence (ML/AI), Quantitative Systems Pharmacology, and Physiologically Based Pharmacokinetic (PBPK) modeling to accelerate the discovery and clinical development of novel drug candidates. Currently, she is also leading the GenAI initiatives across Biomedical Research. Prior to Novartis Birgit worked for GNS Healthcare and was a founding member of Merrimack Pharmaceuticals. She holds a Ph.D. in Biological Engineering from the Max-Planck Institute in Magdeburg, Germany, and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at MIT. Throughout her career, she has been passionate about integrating diverse computational approaches into the drug development process.
